Neat Knits

Apart of this semesters Assessment is to also create a 6 piece capsule collection using Knitwear.

The assessment require us to complete six full illustrated front and back technical drawings.

Apart of my swimwear collection I was inspired by embroidered circles I would like to continue this theme through to my knitwear.

First I am going to look at inspiring images of example knits which I like and then look into different patterns and tecnhiques I also like.

Gorman is one of my most favourite Australia fashion designer her design incorporate alot of Knitwear.

Toile Swimsuit Progress

Cover garment
Swimsuit

These are the garments I have chosen to make.

For my toile I will work of making my jacket pattern first.

Sewing instructions for the Jacket.

1). Join upper bodice front to lower bodice front. (3 thread OL)
     Sew shoulder seams together.

2). Attach upper sleeve to lower. (3 thread OL)
     Sew shoulder onto bodice.
Sew up sleeve to armpit then down side seam of bodice.
Repeat on the other side ( Staring at bodice and ending at the sleeve.)

3). Attach collar. Sew collar edge up to shoulder seam.

4). Attach zip.
Stitch back excess down and behind on zipper top. Align top of collar on zip.
Sew in  zipper. Use right and left zipper foot for each side. foot. (left and right for each side).

5). Attach 3 piece peplum.

Problems to Resolve.

Zip is longer than jacket.  Need to increase length of the bodice.

Positioning of the front bodice pieces is excellent.

Collar is slightly twisted.  Need to look into how to stop this occurring. Not sure what I did wrong with my sewing that caused this.

For this jacket I have used and interfacing of the fabric. Not sure if I want to do this in my final garment it adds bulk. Might not be a practical for swimming. Would like to use this garment to be active sportwear also.

Need to increase the cuff length it is too small at present.
